Connect 5Mins to your Slack workspace so learners get course updates where they already work.

Benefits of Slack integration

• Course notifications: learners get a direct message in Slack when a course is assigned to them.
• Course reminders: learners are reminded before an assigned course is due - by default 7 days and 1 day before, at 10:00 in their own timezone. Admins can pause these or add their own reminders under Automations > Workflows > Course reminders, and they arrive in Slack too.
• Overdue course nudges: once a week, on Tuesdays at 10:00 in their own timezone, learners with overdue courses get a message listing them, with a link to each course they can still open.
• Course results: if a learner doesn't pass a course, they get a message with their score and a link to try again.
• Stay in the flow of work: updates arrive in a tool your team already uses, with no extra logins.

What you'll need

• A Slack workspace administrator to approve the app.
• Your organisation's Slack integration link from 5Mins Customer Success. The link is valid for 24 hours, so ask for a new one if it has expired.

Connecting Slack

1. Request your organisation's Slack integration link from 5Mins Customer Success.
2. Your Slack workspace administrator opens the link. They will land on this page:

1. Click Allow. Only a Slack workspace administrator can give this access.
2. When you see Slack integration request authorized! You can now close this window., you're done.

If your workspace is already connected, the link shows Slack is already connected. instead, and there's nothing more to do.

What 5Mins can access

The 5Mins app can send messages and view the people in your workspace, including their email addresses. It uses email addresses to match each learner's 5Mins account to their Slack account, so make sure learners use the same work email in both.

What does successful integration look like?

5Mins is connected to your Slack workspace for all team members. The 5Mins bot sends each learner a direct message when a course is assigned to them, plus reminders to complete assigned courses before they are due. People added to 5Mins later are matched to Slack automatically.

To check it's working, go to Automations in the admin area and open the Workflows tab: the Course reminders description now lists Slack as a reminder channel.
