Course Settings

What is the Course Settings feature?

Course Settings let you control who can see enrolments, how the course is organised, what learners need to do to complete it, and how videos play. You choose settings in the Settings tab when you create a course. For an existing course, open it from Content & Courses > Your Courses and select the Settings tab.

How do I save my course settings changes?

Click the Update Settings button in the top right corner of the Course Settings page. If you change the pass score, you'll be asked to confirm first, because the new pass score also affects the result of learners who have already completed the course.

Can I see who changed a course's settings?

Where available, click Settings History next to Update Settings to open the audit log for this course's settings.

What does "Allow Managers / Experts to see all enrolments" do?

When ticked, managers and experts can see every enrolment in this course on the Knowledge Hub page. When unticked, they only see their own team members and the learners they enrolled. This setting applies to this course only.

Course organisation

What does "Compliance course" do?

Tick this to treat the course as a compliance course. Compliance courses are included in Reports and in Learning records.

What does "Add to category" do?

This lets you add your course to one or more relevant categories, such as Compliance or Marketing. Categorised courses appear on the "Your Workspace" page, making them easier to find. You can manage categories from the Account & Settings page. Read more about it here.

Do I need to categorise my courses?

No, categorising courses is optional, but it's recommended for better organisation, especially if you have multiple courses.

Course completion

What is the Pass Score feature?

Tick Enable Pass Score to set the minimum quiz score learners need to pass the course (50% by default, anywhere from 1-100%). The score is the average of all lesson quizzes and assessments in the course. Read more in Pass Score for Courses.

Should I change the pass score after setting it?

We recommend not changing the pass score once it has been set, as this also changes the result for learners who are in progress or have already completed the course.

What happens if learners don't meet the pass score?

When you enable a pass score, Allow re-attempts for quizzes and assessments is switched on automatically, giving learners 2 attempts (you can set 2 or 3). If you switch it off, learners get a single attempt. Learners who use up their attempts without reaching the pass score show as Failed. To give them another go, an admin can open the course's Enrolments tab, click the three dots menu next to the learner, and choose either Reset progress (progress goes back to 0 and they start a new attempt, keeping the same start date, due date, and recurrence) or Restart enrolment (replace their enrolment with a fresh one, where you can set new dates).

What does "Auto-reset on failure" do?

This option sits under Enable Pass Score, next to the re-attempts setting. When it's on, a learner who finishes the course without reaching the pass score and has no attempts left has their progress reset automatically, so they can try again without waiting for an admin. Their start date, due date, and repeat rules do not change. Turning off the pass score also turns this option off.

What does "Allow Course access after Due Date" mean?

When enabled, learners can continue viewing lessons and taking assessments after the course due date has passed. When disabled, access is restricted after the due date. Enable it if you want to give learners flexibility, or disable it if you have strict compliance deadlines.

How do course rewards work?

If rewards are available for your organisation, tick Rewards to award learners jewels (up to 500) when they complete the course. This can help motivate learners.

What is the Electronic Signature setting?

When ticked, learners must sign electronically before the course reaches 100%. This setting is only available in the admin area and must be enabled for your organisation by the Customer Success team. Read more in Electronic Signatures for Courses - FAQ.

What is the Certificate feature?

Tick Certificate to give learners a completion certificate when they finish the course. This option is shown on courses your organisation created. Click "Read how certification works" for details.

Video playback

What does "Course must be completed in order" mean?

When enabled, learners must complete each course item before the next one unlocks. Enable this if your content builds on previous lessons. Disable it if learners can benefit from accessing content in any order.

What is "Allow fast forwarding"?

When enabled, learners can skip ahead in videos. This is useful for learners who want to review specific sections or skip content they already know.

What does "Enable Video Playback in Background" do?

This lets learners keep videos playing while they view other browser tabs, which can help with audio-heavy content. For better learning outcomes, we recommend keeping background playback disabled.
