How 5Mins Connects to Your HR System with Merge

: 5Mins uses Merge to securely sync employees from your HRIS or directory — without ever handling your credentials.

Connecting Your HR System with Merge

5Mins.ai uses Merge (merge.dev), a trusted unified-integration platform, to connect to your HR and directory systems. This lets us automatically sync your people into 5Mins so accounts, teams, and managers stay up to date - without manual uploads.

What it does

  • Syncs employees from your HRIS or directory (e.g. Workday, BambooHR, UKG, Azure AD, Google Workspace).
  • Keeps team, manager, and division details in sync, along with start dates and locations.
  • Keeps users current as people join, move teams, or leave - leavers are deactivated automatically.

How you connect it

An admin connects through Merge Link, Merge's secure hosted authorization flow:

  1. Your 5Mins Customer Success contact sends you a secure integration link (sometimes called a magic link).
  2. Open the link. You're taken to Merge's hosted screen to choose and authorise your HR system - see the guide for your system (for example, Workday, BambooHR, or HiBob) for the credentials you'll need.
  3. Once authorized, the connection is active and 5Mins begins syncing.

Why it's secure

  • We never see your HR system's credentials. Authorization happens entirely within Merge's hosted flow. Your HR system's passwords and API keys never reach 5Mins.
  • Read-only, one-way sync. Data flows into 5Mins only. We read employee and team records - we never write back to your HR system.
  • Scoped per organisation. The connection is tied to your tenant and authorizes access only to the data needed to sync your people.
  • Backed by Merge's security posture. Merge is SOC 2 Type II compliant and purpose-built for handling sensitive HR data across hundreds of integrations.

Note: You stay in control. You can ask your Customer Success contact to disconnect the integration at any time to stop syncing, or revoke access from your HR system's side.
