Adding SCORM Content to Your Courses

Before you start

  • You need a SCORM package as a .zip file, exported from your authoring tool.

  • Supported version: SCORM 2004 (2nd, 3rd and 4th editions). The version is detected automatically from the package manifest.

  • The .zip must contain a valid SCORM manifest, or the upload will be rejected.

Don't see SCORM options? SCORM may need to be enabled for your account, ask your administrator.

Step 1: Upload your SCORM file

  1. Go to Your Content and open the SCORM tab.

  2. Click Add SCORM.

  3. On the Add a new SCORM file page, fill in:

    • Title: the name learners will see (up to 200 characters).

    • Duration (optional): in minutes; shown to learners in the course outline.

    • Select a ZIP file to upload: choose your SCORM .zip.

    • Cover image: keep the default or upload your own.

  4. Click Upload SCORM. A progress bar shows the upload, "Hold tight! We're uploading the file to our servers."

  5. You'll see "New SCORM file uploaded! We're processing the file now (usually 1–2 minutes)" and land back on the SCORM tab.

While a file is processing you'll see a Processing indicator; once it's ready you can preview and use it.

Step 2: Add SCORM to a course

Once a SCORM file has processed, you can add it to any course as a content item.

  1. Open the course editor for the course you want.

  2. In the Add content menu, choose SCORM.

  3. On the Add SCORM files screen, search (Search SCORM courses) and find the file you uploaded.

  4. Click Add on its card. (Use Remove to take it back out.)

  5. Save the course. The SCORM item now appears in the course outline alongside your lessons.

No files in the list yet? Upload one first, there's an Add SCORM shortcut on the empty state that takes you to the upload page.

Managing your SCORM files

From Your Content → SCORM you can:

  • Preview a file (opens in a new tab)

  • Edit SCORM: update the title, duration or cover

  • Delete a file

Heads up on deleting: removing a SCORM file also removes it from any courses it's used in, and learner progress for it is deleted. This can't be undone.

What learners see

  • A SCORM item appears in the course outline labelled "SCORM" with its duration (e.g. SCORM • 30 min).

  • Opening it launches the SCORM content in a new browser tab.

  • Completion and scores are tracked and flow back into the learner's course progress.

Good to know

  • File type: .zip only.

  • SCORM version: 2004 (2nd / 3rd / 4th edition).

  • Enrolment happens through the course: learners get SCORM content by being enrolled in a course that contains it.

  • Keep your original source files safe: SCORM packages can't be exported/downloaded back out of 5Mins once uploaded.
