Content Hierarchy Overview

At 5mins, we've designed our educational content to be flexible, organized, and easily navigable. Our platform uses a three-tier content hierarchy:

1. Lessons

Lessons are the fundamental building blocks of all content on 5mins. Each lesson is a self-contained unit of learning that covers a specific topic or concept. Lessons typically could be:

  • Video / audio

  • PDF

  • Flashcards

  • External links such as YouTube, Loom, Synhesia etc

2. Series

Series are collections of lessons that are connected to one another in sequence. A series provides a structured learning path through related lessons, allowing learners to progress through content in a logical order. Key features of series include:

  • Sequential organization of lessons

  • Progressive learning approach

  • Thematic or conceptual connections between lessons

  • Ability to track completion across multiple lessons

Please note : Starting March 2025, only 5Mins can create series.

3. Courses

Courses represent our most comprehensive content offering. A course consists of a collection of lessons and assessments designed to provide complete mastery of a subject area. Courses typically include:

  • Multiple lessons (either standalone or as part of series)

  • Assessments to evaluate understanding

  • Certificates upon completion

  • Progress tracking functionality

Managing Content on 5mins

Depending on your role, you have different options for adding and managing content:

For Administrators

As an administrator, you can add lessons through the Admin Portal:

  1. Log into your administrator account

  2. Navigate to the "My Content" section

  3. Select "Add New Lesson"

  4. Create your lesson content

  5. Publish your lesson

Administrators have full control over content creation, organization, and publishing, including the ability to create and manage series and courses.

For Subject Experts

Subject experts contribute specialized content through the Knowledge Hub:

  1. Log into your subject expert account

  2. Access the "Knowledge Hub" section

  3. Select "Add Lesson"

  4. Create your lesson content
