Events - Google Meet

5mins lets you run live Events (such as instructor-led sessions and webinars) using your own video conferencing tool. If your organization uses Google Workspace, you can connect Google Meet so that every event you create automatically gets a Google Meet link.

Connecting Google Meet

  1. In the admin portal, go to Events.

  2. When prompted to choose your conferencing tool, select Connect with Google Meet. (Zoom and Microsoft Teams are also available if you'd prefer one of those.)

  3. You'll be taken to Google to authorize the connection. Sign in with the Google account you want 5mins to use for hosting events and approve the requested permissions.

  4. Once authorized, you're returned to 5mins and Google Meet becomes your connected conferencing tool.

Heads up: The conferencing tool you choose becomes the default for your events and can't be switched afterwards, so pick the tool your team uses. If you need to change it later, contact our Customer Success team.

Hosting events with Google Meet

Once Google Meet is connected, creating an event works the same as with any other provider:

  • Create your event in the Events section and set the date, time, and attendees.

  • A Google Meet link is generated for the event automatically β€” there's no need to create one manually in Google Calendar.

  • Invitees receive the event details and joining link by email, and can add it to their calendar.
