Google SSO — Available Out of the Box

Google SSO (Out of the Box)

Google sign-in is built into 5Mins.ai and available to your users by default. No admin setup is required to turn it on.

What's enabled by default

Every login screen offers Continue with Google alongside the other built-in methods (Microsoft, phone, and email/password, plus Apple in the 5Mins mobile app). You don't need to register an app, manage OAuth credentials, or change a setting - it's ready to use.

How your users sign in

  1. On the login page, the user clicks Continue with Google.

  2. They select which Google account to use (they're always prompted to choose).

  3. They're signed in and returned to 5Mins.ai.

How accounts are matched

  • Users are matched to their 5Mins.ai account by email address.

  • If a user previously signed up with email/password using the same address, signing in with Google links to that same account - they don't end up with a duplicate.

  • If 5Mins needs to confirm it's the same person, the user sees This email is already connected to an account and is asked to sign in once with their original method (for example email and password). After that, they can use either method.

  • It works the other way round too: if a user who signed up with Google tries to sign in with an email and password, they see the same screen. Once they sign in with Google, the password they typed is added to their account, and they can use either method from then on.

How this differs from Enterprise SSO

Out-of-the-box Google sign-in is not the same as Enterprise SSO:

Out-of-the-box GoogleEnterprise SSO
SetupNone5Mins support configures your provider for you
Identity sourceGoogle (Firebase)Your OIDC identity provider
When it appliesDefault for all usersWhen a user enters a work email on your domain under Continue with email

Note: If your organisation has Enterprise SSO configured, users on your domain who enter their work email under Continue with email are sent to your company's sign-in page. The Continue with Google button is still shown. If you want centralised, domain-based sign-in, contact support@5mins.ai to set up Enterprise SSO.
